  • Some Tips for Entering the Society’s Shows

  • Be brave – have a go – we need your entries and it is fun
  • You do not need to grow to show – if something is looking good at show time consider entering it
  • Talk to other club members who already compete in the shows – they will be happy to share their knowledge. We have some top vegetable, spring bulbs, dahlia, chrysanthemum and sweet pea growers as well as a host of other plants.
  • Grow the easier varieties –some are harder than others. When you are a bit more experienced grow the right varieties that produce good results – ask other exhibitors what they would recommend
  • Read the Show Schedule carefully – entries are judged to the schedule. It is easy to put too many or not enough of one entry
  • Staging is from 6.30 – 8 pm for evening shows. Last entries accepted at 7.30 pm latest. Don’t leave it until the last minute you need time to stage properly. Presentation is very important
  • If you are also an allotment holder – consider entering some of your produce
