Evening Shows

Shows

The society will be holding Summer and Autumn Evening Shows in 2025.

Show Rules

1Entries are limited to members. Exhibition cards can be collected on the evening of the Show between the times stated on the Show Schedule. No entries received after the deadline given on the Show Schedule will be accepted unless at the discretion of the Show Secretary (or a nominated committee member). Flower Club members are eligible to enter Floral Art classes.
2There will be no entry fee for exhibits.
3Only one exhibit in any one class may be entered from one property.
4All plants must be the property of the exhibitor and must have been in his/her possession for at least six weeks before the Show in which they are entered. All cut flowers (except flowers arranged for effect), fruit and vegetables must have been grown by the exhibitor, in the open, in his or her garden or allotment, unless the Schedule states otherwise.
5All exhibitors shall, on request, afford facilities to the Society to visit the place where their exhibits are grown.
6The Society does not accept responsibility for any loss or damage to any exhibit.
7Staging of exhibits will be under the direction of the Show Secretary (or a nominated committee member) and must be carried out on the evening of the Show between the times stated on the Show Schedule, at which latter time all persons, except officials, must move away from the show benches.
8Exhibition cards provided by the Society on the day of the Show must be placed by the exhibitor, reversed, in front of or on the exhibit. Any exhibit left without a card will be considered as not for the competition.
9Where required, vases for the exhibits will be provided by the Society.
10Judging will commence at the time stated on the Show Schedule. Where judges external to the Society have been engaged, judging of exhibits of flowers, fruit and vegetables will be conducted under the guidance of RHS Rules. The decision of the judges shall be final. While judging is in progress, only such persons as have been appointed by the Society shall be present, and all others must keep away from the show benches.
11First, second and third places will normally be awarded in each class, but this procedure may be varied if there are insufficient entries, or if the external judge considers that entries are of insufficient merit.
12To qualify for a medal, cup, or other trophy, a successful exhibitor must have been a member of the Society for at least six weeks prior to the Show or Shows in which it is won.
13Any protest, regarding any exhibit or the qualification of any exhibitor, must be lodged in writing with the Show Secretary (or the committee member nominated in Rule 1 above) on the evening of the Show, before the completion of judging.(A panel consisting of at least three members of the Committee of the Society will be set up to deal with any protest or contingency. Should a Committee member have an interest in the matter, he/she cannot act. The panel will have power to declare any exhibit in any class disqualified if the protest is upheld.)
14No exhibits may be withdrawn from the Show before 9pm unless permission has been obtained from the Show Secretary (or a nominated committee member). All exhibits not withdrawn may be auctioned, with proceeds going to Society funds.
